ANNA — The Final Sparkman & Stephens Legacy

Offered at $995,000

Brooklin-Built Excellence — Cold-Molded Precision, Enduring Beauty.

Few yachts so completely reconcile lineage, craftsmanship, and modern performance as ANNA. Conceived as a faithful yet forward-looking interpretation of the great Sparkman & Stephens design canon, she mirrors from decades past the final chapter of Olin Stephens’ remarkable career—an enduring synthesis of proportion, restraint, and purpose.

Commissioned by a knowledgeable owner and built in 2007 by Brooklin Boat Yard, ANNA stands as one benchmark example of the “Spirit of Tradition” ethos: classical geometry executed with contemporary materials, engineering discipline, and a clear understanding of how a yacht is meant to be sailed.

Her aesthetic lineage traces directly to Stormy Weather, perhaps the most consequential ocean racer of the 20th century. Rather than literal reproduction, ANNA is a carefully judged evolution—retaining the defining elements of sheer, tumblehome, and composure under sail, while benefiting from a refined underbody, modern appendages, and advanced sail plan geometry. The result is a yacht that is both visually timeless and measurably more efficient, responsive, and manageable.

Her cold-molded hull and structures are executed in mahogany, western red cedar, and Port Orford cedar with epoxy consolidation—this achieves a rare balance of structural integrity and weight discipline. Below the waterline, a bulbed fin keel and spade rudder provide lift, control, and tracking well beyond what her classical profile suggests. Above deck, carbon fiber mast and boom reduce inertia and enhance sail-handling precision, while systems throughout have been engineered for shorthanded operation without compromise.

This is not simply a yacht that references tradition—it is one that understands it. Every decision, from the concealed ground tackle to the disciplined deck layout, reflects a commitment to clarity of purpose: performance, ease of handling, and enduring aesthetic coherence.

Below, ANNA offers a thoughtfully resolved interior that prioritizes both livability and proportion. The arrangement—developed in collaboration with the owner and design specialists—places the galley adjacent to the aft cabin and is a step away from two separate companionways for practical deck access and social integration. The arrangement while providing accommodation for two couples is flexible for additional guests in pilot berths. During build, the interior was prototyped at full scale prior to execution, resulting in a level of finish and ergonomic refinement rarely achieved in custom construction.

Under sail, ANNA distinguishes herself not only by speed but by composure. She is a yacht that rewards a practiced hand yet remains forgiving, capable of being handled confidently by a couple and, as proven, even single-handed in demanding conditions. Her performance record—including commanding results in competitive classic fleets—confirms what her lines suggest: this is a serious sailing yacht.

For eighteen seasons, she has been maintained to a high standard in the cold waters of the Northeast, a stewardship that has preserved both her structural integrity and her visual presence. Now offered for sale by her original owner, ANNA presents a rare opportunity to acquire a yacht of genuine pedigree—one that does not merely emulate history but extends it with intelligence and discipline.
