New circumstances have prevented the owners from enjoying the boat. She has not been used beyond her initial sea trials & delivery (~38 hours). This is a rare and special opportunity to find on the brokerage market an essentially brand new custom yacht, offered for a fraction of her cost to build new.
Originally conceived by a discerning and experienced yachting family, the R37 was designed and built at the renowned Rockport Marine (Rockport, ME), and influenced by classic lobster yachts of the 1950’s—boats known for their seakindliness, efficiency, and comfortable ride. Modern adjustments include a hull form that combines traditional “built-down” shape for comfort and lower engine position with hard chines for higher speed and spray deflection. Top speed of 25 knots makes covering ground fast and effortless. Roomy cockpit with open stern for easy tender stowage, and below is understated luxury in the Herreshoff style for cruising comfort and gourmet cooking in the unusually spacious galley. Both on deck and below, every detail and fitting has been exquisitely selected for quality, restrained style and durability.
Commercial lobster fishers praise and value wooden boats as kinder onthe body, due to their uncanny ability to absorb vibrations and feel more solid underfoot. ELIZA offers this experience of comfort and solidity with the worry-free maintenance of modern wood-composite construction.

Additional Info & Specs >Cold molded wood construction with WEST System epoxy resin and Gougeon Brothers methods used throughout.
The hull construction consists of Alaskan Yellow Cedar, Western Red Cedar, and Sipo fastened with #10 silicon bronze flathead wood screws. The exterior is sheathed with two layers of 1208 fiberglass cloth infused with epoxy. The keel is of laminated African Mahogany while the chine logs, frames, and sheer clamp are from Laminated Douglas Fir. The engine beds are laminated African Mahogany. All structural bulkheads and stringers are made of marine-grade ply. Silicon bronze was used for all structural fasteners. The deckhouse is made from laminated Spruce and Okoume ply, sheathed in fiberglass. The working deck and cockpit beams are made from Douglas Fir which supports a marine plywood sub-deck overlaid with 3/8” teak surface deck.
The pilot-house roof hosts teak handrails, VHF antenna, a spotlight, the ship’s horn, radome, all-around white nav light, solar panel, flagstaff bracket, and teak brackets for storing the transom washboards when not in use. There are floodlights which illuminate the cockpit.
In the cockpit, the open transom makes dealing with a tender a piece of cake—just pull it up over the built-in roller and cinch down to built-in padeyes. The integral swim platform is attractive and functional as a “private beach,” with handy bronze swim ladder. The 20-foot cockpit provides multiple seating opportunities, from gorgeous teak-slat helm seats to movable seating around the engine box and removable teak table, using free-standing teak/bronze “park benches,” all sheltered from wind by the open pilothouse.
Interior spaces are finished in the classically timeless Herreshoff style of white painted hull interior, bulkheads, partitions, cabin sides, overheads, locker doors and drawer fronts accented by varnished trim, polished brass hardware, polished stainless steel sink basins and solid color counter tops with simple bare teak used for cabin sole and companionway stairs. Ample storage is provided throughout by way of simple but clever drawers, shelves, and cabinets.
Furthest forward is the anchor chain locker with access door through the fwd bulkhead. Next aft is the Vee-berth sleeping platform with storage bins below the platform, shelf storage above and outboard of the berthing space. Between the separate berths is a cushioned seat with drawer storage underneath. Continuing aft you’ll find the galley area to port with sink basin, gimbaled stove / oven, a 12V DC under-counter fridge / freezer, Silestone countertop, and generous storage for galleyware. Aft and to starboard is the head area with a Groco bronze marine toilet, sink basin, Silestone countertop and plenty of storage for towels and toiletries. There is a generous stall shower separated from the head area with a glass door. The stall is fitted with a custom teak seat, teak floor, and wet locker.
An Espar D4R12v Marine heater has multiple outlets on interior and in the cockpit for cruising in chilly weather.
Fixed portlights in the cabin along with opening hatches (w/ bronze screens) in the galley, head, and V-berth areas provide plenty of natural lighting and ventilation throughout.
