4/2/2019 — LONDON, ENGLAND: Stephens Waring Yacht Design, the internationally recognized marine engineering and architecture firm, announced today that its recent 65-foot luxury yacht Anna won a Classic Boat Award 2019 in an exclusive ceremony here.
The Classic Boat Awards celebrate excellence in custom-built and restored boats from around the world. The award is presented annually by the editors of Classic Boat Magazine, the yachting publication also based here, in London, England.

Anna earned the top spot in the competitive Spirit-of-Tradition category. This Maine-designed and -built yacht bested custom vessels from some of the most storied global boatyards and designers. Other entrants of note included:
- Aquarius, the 184-foot Dykstra Naval Architects Design, built by Royal Huisman located in the Netherlands.
- Gwenhyfar, the 63-foot yawl designed and built by Spirit Yachts based in England.
- Sultana, a 67-foot sloop designed by Hoek Design and built by Performance Classic Yachts, also based in the United Kingdom.
Anna was the only American-designed and -built yacht nominated in the Spirit-of-Tradition category and she was one of the few nominated in the 7 other categories in the Classic Boat Award.
“We are both humbled and proud to see one of our works receive such praise. Creating power and sailing yachts in the arena of Spirit-of-Tradition design is very near and dear to our Maine-based firm and it’s a pleasure to witness the genre become accepted more and more as a serious vernacular globally,” says Paul Waring, who’s also a principal at Stephens Waring Yacht Design.
Anna’s creators credit her unprecedented success to the deep collaboration between her owners, Stephens Waring Yacht Design, Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding of Thomaston, Maine and Martha Coolidge Design,of Rockland , Maine.
Conservative estimates say this project created 30 high-paying jobs and roughly $15.2 million in economic benefit to the Maine region. The entire design team traveled to London for the elegant award ceremony.
